Cookbooks

I am such a sucker for recipes.  My usual go-to places are epicurious, Giada, and my mom's beat up Pillsbury Complete Book of Baking.  But, for a change of scenery, I scooped up I Know How to Cook--the recipes are clean with just a tiny bit of French...not to mention that the cover illustration is gorgeous.  Oui!

What are your favorite cookbooks?

This is on my to buy list, love the illustration.

All of Nigella Lawsons books are brilliant, and the food is completely delicious! How to be a Domestic Goddess and Express are the ones I always use.

I am married to my Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook! For 3 generations of women in my family, it's the only cookbook that's been in the house! I'm the first to branch out... I actually own a few! But I always go back to BHG!

Well it is more of a novel/recipe book:

Confections of a Closet Master Baker: One Woman's Sweet Journey from Unhappy Hollywood Executive to Contented Country Baker
By Gesine Bullock-Prado

Gesine had a bakery in Montpelier, VT. Friday's was the Pie Day...she had a dark chocolate mousse that was awesome!

Alas no more it is closed but she has some really good recipes in her book.

Yay! Food!
There's this great bakery I know called Calandro's. It sells little Pichu and Pikachu cupcakes, and Cookie Monster cupcakes, and Elmo cupcakes, and huge birthday and wedding cakes, and cheesecake and mousse and...soooo yummy!
I love it mostly because of the Pikachu cupcakes, though. As you can see from my screen name, Pichu and Pikachu are my new obsessions.

so, I have never really been a cook. I never have the patience. However, I really think I should start and this may be a great book to help me.

You should read Julia Child's "My Life in France," the way she describes food is sensational!
