Hello, Friday

The weekend is finally here!  NYC is an icebox today...but that won't stop me from my adventures.  I think I'll see this, eat here, and try to get my hands on one of these.  In the meantime, here's my weekly round-up:

Good heavens, I want an invite to this party! (via Natty Michelle)

Craig's List Chuckle: JC Superstar.

You are neat.

I tried doing this dance in my living room.  It did NOT look like this.

Cupcake crawl, anyone? (via Dry as Toast)

Silver shorts, check.

Salinger...in his own words.

Oh Stella, you know the key to my heart.

Months later, I can't get over Thom Filicia's The Big Chill-inspired design.

Cobalt Blue and Nudes Are So Money

There's a point in winter where I just surrender to my giant sweaters and give up on putting a layered outfit together.  No more long-sleeves, no more boots.  When will it get warm!  That's when daydreaming comes in handy, especially when I come across Moroccan-themed inspirations like the one above.  Take me back!

Hello, Friday

I'm sorry for the lack of my normally scheduled Hello, Friday links, but the least I can do is leave you with Mr. James Brown.  I couldn't have said it better myself...

Enjoy your weekend! xo!

Eat Your Heart Out

Yep, that's a wedding cake dress.  It reminds me of a life-size version of these cakes made with Barbie dolls which used to be all the rage back in the day.  Well, what are you waiting for?  Grab a plate and choose the biggest, prettiest slice!

Concept by Lukka Sigurdardottir via Gather and Nest.

Creeping on the Nine West Cuzza Boot

Last fall (2008), I was lucky enough to scoop up a pair of the Nine West Cuzza Boots.  I have to admit that these are my go-to shoes for everything--day, night, work, and play.  Wear them with sweats?  Heck, I'd do it.  They make even the sorriest of outfits look put together.

My roommate Katie has been trying to find a pair, any pair, with no avail for the past couple of weeks.  I get it, it's a year later, but not even a Cuzza in sight on eBay!?  Katie girl, I think it's your lucky day.  I know it's not the same, but it's pretty stinkin' close!

Just As Fraulein Maria Once Said

I grew up watching The Sound of Music and memorizing all of the things that made Fraulein Maria happy.  Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens...ha!  Don't make me sing it.  If I wrote the song, these would be my list:

{these are a few of my favorite things}

Hello, Friday

Sort of a roller-coaster week, right?  Glad that it's the weekend and we can all just c-h-i-l-l.  Here's a round-up of some of my favorites this week:

M.I.A. isn't missing in action after all. (via Is Mental)

Will work for Loeffler Randall shoes.

Garance will not be conquered by Chloe Bermuda shorts!

Because my life is run by Jersey Shore: Ron-Ron Juice recipe and if the cast were kids :)

I want to see more of Jen's gorgeous wedding!

GaGa and Ken, anyone?

A-Bea-C is totally awesome.

Fav street style: fur and hair!

One last thing: If you so desire, please donate to the disaster relief in Haiti...a little goes a long way. Yankees are doing it. Naomi's doing it. Though my donation was small, I helped someone. I don't know who that person was, but I think it's important we stick together. To give, use the button on the right for American Red Cross or you can also donate to Fonkoze.

In New York, Concrete Jungle Where Nightmares Are Made Of

Meet Roach. He visited our tiny, clean apartment late last night...let's just say, it's not exactly what you want to see before bed. Well, he'll be sorry he ever showed. Tupperware is a bitch.

Now if the scare of one isn't enough: 23% of households in Chelsea, Clinton, and Midtown reported having cockroach problems.  51% in East Harlem (not me, but still pretty scary).  NO, SERIOUSLY, IS THIS NORMAL?  I don't have enough Tupperware.

For now, Val 1 - Roach 0.

Chow Down

Chow just released their first in a series of new desktop wallpapers inspired by the things we eat.  #1 is Mr. Portobello Mushroom which, I might add, is something I wouldn't mind looking at every time I'm at my computer.

Just a tiny bit of eye candy...

1. + 2. urban outfitters early spring 2010 catalog / 2. antique tastykake truck (butterscotch krimpets!) / 3. interior at madebygirl

p.s. would give anything for that antler wall...anyone know of good sources to find a bunch of taxidermy plaques?

Heartfelt Hello

Okay, okay so it's been PRETTY BAD how much of a slacker I've become about blogging...worse than George McFly:

And, no, I don't want to be a slacker for the rest of my life, so I'm back.  Really back.  Because I've said it before, but I won't say it again.  And since I've had some time to observe the blogosphere from afar, let me start by saying that blogging is it's own world...a giant community of pretty thoughts that transports people from LA or China to my tiny NYC screen.  I missed you.

So getting down to biz-nass...I was doing some "work things" and came across an old friend, Heartfelt (all the way above the video).  These clothes describe what I'm feeling right now--chipper and optimistic for the new year.  From the mix of the collection, looks like 2010 could be pretty serious fantastic.  The overall vibe is that really great things are going to happen (a lottery win or free pizza pie, perhaps?), but that could be the high hemline talking.
